Connector
Hostbase for Claude and ChatGPT
Ask about your property in plain language, and make changes you approve.
Last updated: October 5, 2026
What it does
The Hostbase connector lets Claude (on the web, desktop and mobile), Claude Code, ChatGPT and Codex work with
your Hostbase account. They can look up reservations, availability, rates, occupancy and revenue, and guest reviews,
and, if you allow it, create, change and cancel reservations, move guests between rooms and block
rooms. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP); the server address is https://mcp.hostbase.ai/mcp.
Before you connect
- You need a Hostbase account with an email and password. If you normally sign in with Google or Microsoft, set a password first with “Forgot password?” on your Hostbase login page.
- An admin of your organization must turn the connector on in Hostbase → Settings → AI Connectors, choosing Read only or Read & write. It is off by default.
- Organization admins can connect with read-only or read & write access. Managers, front desk staff and property owners connect read-only; owners see only what their property shares with them. Other roles and Hostbase staff accounts can’t connect.
Connect
Claude (web, desktop, mobile)
Open Settings → Connectors, search for Hostbase in the directory and
select Connect. You can also select Add custom connector and paste
https://mcp.hostbase.ai/mcp.
ChatGPT (web)
Available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. Open Settings → Security and
login and turn on Developer mode. Then open ChatGPT Plugins, select
+, name it Hostbase, choose a public endpoint and paste
https://mcp.hostbase.ai/mcp. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin of that workspace may need to
allow developer mode first.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http hostbase https://mcp.hostbase.ai/mcp, then run /mcp and choose
Authenticate.
Codex
codex mcp add hostbase --url https://mcp.hostbase.ai/mcp, then codex mcp login hostbase.
Signing in
A Hostbase page opens in your browser. Sign in with your Hostbase email and password. The page shows the organization you are connecting, which is always the one your account belongs to, and asks whether the connection can read only or read and write, within what your organization and role allow. Select Allow and you are returned to your assistant.
What it can read
get_account: The organization you are connected to, your role, whether the connection can make changes, and your properties.list_room_types: Room types and their rooms (units), capacity and tax rate.check_availability: Which rooms are free for a stay, room by room and night by night.get_rate_quote: A price from the Hostbase pricing engine: nightly direct rates, tax, total, minimum stay and per-channel prices.list_reservations: Reservations staying, arriving, departing or booked in a date window, with guest-name and reference search.get_reservation: One reservation in full, including refunds, installments and the other rooms of a multi-room booking.list_blocked_dates: Rooms closed to sale in a date window.get_performance: Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, gross and net revenue and net payout, optionally broken down by channel, room type, month and more.list_guest_reviews: Guest reviews with scores and reply status.list_refunds: Money handed back to guests in a date window.list_cash_settlements: The cash settlement ledger for direct bookings, including long-stay installments.
What it can change
Only organization admins can make changes through the connector, on a read & write connection, and always
in two steps. A plan_ tool checks the change
against the live calendar and returns a preview; nothing changes until confirm_write runs. Claude and
ChatGPT ask for your permission before running confirm_write. Just before writing, Hostbase plans the
change again and refuses it if the room, nights or price no longer match the preview.
plan_create_reservation: Preview a new direct booking: the room assigned, nightly rate, VAT, total and payment schedule.plan_change_reservation: Preview new dates, rate, guest count, names, contact details or notes on a booking.plan_move_room: Preview moving a booking to another room for its whole stay.plan_cancel_reservation: Preview cancelling a booking.plan_block_rooms: Preview closing rooms to sale for a range of nights, or reopening them.confirm_write: Carry out a change you approved from one of the previews above.
Changes run with your own Hostbase permissions: if you can’t block dates in Hostbase, you can’t block them through the connector either. The connector doesn’t issue refunds, read or send guest messages, change pricing or manage users.
Example prompts
- “What are our arrivals and departures tomorrow, and which rooms need to be ready by 2pm?”
- “How did occupancy and net revenue for September compare with August, broken down by channel?”
- “Is a Junior Suite free from 12 to 15 November for two adults, and what would it cost direct?”
- “Which reviews from the last month haven't we replied to yet?”
- “Block room 305 from 3 to 6 December for maintenance.”
- “Book Sara Ahmed into a Junior Suite from 20 to 23 November at the direct rate, paying cash in USD.”
Security and privacy
- Each connection is locked to your organization, decided by Hostbase from your account, and re-checked on every request. Organizations are isolated in the database.
- Every request runs with your own role and permissions. Revenue and reviews appear only if your Hostbase permissions include them. Guest conversations are not available through the connector.
- Connections last six months (180 days), and end immediately if you change your Hostbase password, leave the organization, your role changes to one that can’t connect, or an admin turns the connector off. An ended connection never resumes; you connect again.
- Hostbase keeps a log of the tools each connection uses, visible to your organization’s admins, for 90 days.
- Information the connector returns is processed by the AI assistant you connected, under that provider’s terms. See section 4.7 of our Privacy Policy.
Disconnect
Remove the connector in your assistant, or revoke the connection in Hostbase → Settings → AI Connectors (property owners: Claude & ChatGPT in the Hostbase menu), which cuts it off immediately. Admins can revoke anyone’s connection in their organization.
Troubleshooting
- “The connector is turned off for your organization”: ask an admin to enable it in Settings → AI Connectors.
- “Read & write” is greyed out: only organization admins can connect with write access, or your organization allows read access only.
- The connection stopped working: it has expired after six months, your Hostbase password or role changed, an admin turned the connector off, or it was revoked. Connect again.
